8.Descent

 9:30 am, leaving Camp 3

9:30 - 12:30 pm, rappelling down for about 100 ft and detouring through the bottom of a huge crevasse to get to Camp 2.

12:30 - 6:30 pm, descent to Camp 1

7:30 pm, reached ABC cache site

8 - 10 pm, descent to BC in dark

I took the last glance of summit before leaving the C3.

The thigh-deep soft snow was so frustrating

The snow bridge in the middle of the crevasse melted a lot.

The snow at C1 melted so much that we almost could not recognize it.

We descended as fast as we could before daylight was gone.

Melted water flows as river across the ice field.

Tina was taking the last step off the glacier. The mountain in the distance is no longer snow covered. It was the first time I saw the color of green in the last 7 days.

We met this Tibetan monk on our way down.  Last year, he climbed up to Camp 3 within a day following AAIC's footstep, equipped with only a pair of canvas shoes with rubber sole.

rock carved with Tibetan words.  It is the same idea as prayer's flag

Farewell, Chola Shan ...
