Trip Report:

I met with the climb leader Mark Boettcher and Basic Student Shaun at the Issaquah P&R at 4:30 am (9/27/03).  It was a warm morning.  The three of us arrived at Esmeralda Basin trailhead at 6:30.  Half hour later, we started walking towards Ingalls pass.  There was smoke from a forest fire in the vicinity and the smell of burning was strong.  Otherwise it was a clear day with crystal blue sky.  There are 9 of us in our group, 6 of them basic students.  Several of them need this climb to graduate.

9:00 am:  We arrived at Ingalls Pass at around and took a break

The 5.6 crack was really fun.  We led it in our mountain boots.  The climb was short but enjoyable.  I only used stoppers on the entire route and found it fairly protectable.

2:30 pm We finished the climb and got back down to the base.  It was pretty remarkable that as a group of 9 it took us only 4.5 hours to do the climb.  We hiked down towards the Ingalls Pass.  On our way back, I was happily re-unioned with Tao and our dogs Ruby and Emerald, who took a hike to the lake.  The dogs were really hot, but they are very happy.  People kept throwing sticks for Ruby to catch and he just kept running up and down the slopes.  We took a leisure pace and got back to car at 4:30pm.
