SiChuan - Tibet Highway

The road following the winding river: Qing Yi Jiang

Road climbing up Mount BaLang, about 14000 ft.

The road is constantly being damaged by landslide and flooding.  There is always endless construction, thanks for the limitless supply of cheap labor.

The workers' home at roadside.

We sometime had to pass road like this.

The treacherous road doesn't stop the heavy traffic.

After being cramped in the van on terribly bumpy road for several hours , everyone needs stretching.

Finally the rack on top of the van starts breaking down after the abuse on the bumpy road

Building and Lodging

This is what a normal Tibetan residential house looks like. The dish was probably a solar-energy heater, even though some people suspected it was satellite dish.

Nathan walking on the balcony of the charming Inn in BaMei at 11000 ft., where we spent the first night on road.

City of GanZi

The "best" hotel in MaNiGanGe -- still without a bathroom with normal sanitary condition despite its glorious appearance. Moreover, power is off after 8pm.
